French law
The system of law, procedure and compensation is very different in France than in England. As an example, road traffic victims in France (passengers, pedestrians and cyclists etc.) are protected by French law (Loi Badinter) and normally will automatically recover compensation without having to prove fault. Damages are calculated in France using tables and the assessment of compensation is not as flexible as it is in this country. However, at Irwin Mitchell, we have specialists in French law (including a number of French lawyers) who are able to advise you in connection with any accident you may have in France.
Time Limit
NOTE!! The time limit for bringing a claim in France following a road traffic accident is 5 years. The period can be different for other types of claims.
