Illness Again At The Notorious Holiday Village Turkey - 2011

Irwin Mitchell has been approached by holidaymakers to investigate potential claims against First Choice after falling ill whilst staying at the Holiday Village, in Sarigerme, Turkey during June 2011.
The exclusive First Choice hotel has been under fire for the past seven years running and hundreds of holidaymakers have turned to the International Travel Litigation team at Irwin Mitchell to act on their behalf. Since 2005 Irwin Mitchell has acted for over 1,200 holidaymakers whose holidays at the Holiday Village were ruined by illness, including cases of Salmonella, Campylobacter and E.coli. Our clients include over 400 people who stayed at the hotel in 2008 and over 600 who stayed there in 2009. We are also currently pursuing a claim on behalf of a group of holidaymakers who stayed at the hotel in 2010.
It has previously been reported that holidaymakers suffered unpleasant gastric illness including symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and fever. They saw what appeared to be poor food hygiene standards at the hotel. For example, food was served uncovered, was often undercooked and sometimes appeared to be reheated. They noticed that new food was added to trays of food that had been on display for a while. They saw birds, cats, ants and wasps in the dining areas.
Additionally, it has been suggested that some holidaymakers recently returning from the hotel have suffered Salmonella food poisoning. Salmonella is a bacterial infection which can cause severe gastric symptoms and can lead to permanent post infective irritable bowel syndrome, also often requiring medical treatment.
