Illness at Holiday Village Turkey, Sarigerme

Irwin Mitchell has been approached to act in compensation claims for holidaymakers who travelled to the all-inclusive Holiday Village Turkey in Sarigerme in July and August 2010.  This is the 6th year running that Irwin Mitchell has been asked to assist holidaymakers struck down with illness at the Holiday Village, which is exclusive to First Choice.

The holidaymakers suffered unpleasant gastric illness including symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and fever. They saw what appeared to be poor food hygiene standards at the hotel.  For example, food was served uncovered, was often undercooked and sometimes appeared to be reheated. They noticed that new food was added to trays of food that had been on display for a while. They saw birds, cats, ants and wasps in the dining areas.

The holidaymakers also complained that the hotel’s toilets were dirty, and that there were sewage smells in the complex. The Holiday Village complex has many swimming pools, and the pool which they used most often was closed 5 times due to faecal contamination of the water.  They were aware that other pools on the complex were also closed.  Their hotel room was not adequately cleaned during their stay.

Since 2005 Irwin Mitchell has acted for over 1,200 holidaymakers whose holidays at the Holiday Village were ruined by illness, including cases of Salmonella, Campylobacter and E.coli.  Our clients include over 400 people who stayed at the hotel in 2008 and over 600 who stayed there last year.
