Gastric Illness on Cruise Ships in 2010

Published date: 11 Mar 2010

Irwin Mitchell has received reports of an increasing number of cruise liners being struck by gastric illness during the early part of 2010.

It is reported that there has been an increase in the incidence of gastric illness onboard cruise ships with passengers onboard all of the following cruise ships suffering from gastric illness since the start of 2010:

Holland America's Maasdam Cruise Liner
Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas
Celebrity Cruise Line's Millenium Ship

It is reported that there have already been 8 outbreaks of gastric illness investigated by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention onboard cruise ships so far this year with 2009 seeing only 15 outbreaks investigated in total throughout the year.

If you also travelled onboard any of these ships or other cruise liners and suffered from gastric illness, Irwin Mitchell would like to hear from you as you may be able to claim compensation for your ruined holiday, and also, the pain and suffering caused by the illness that you sustained. For more advice on making a holiday illness claim, contact Irwin Mitchell on 0800 056 0066 or complete our enquiry form and we will call you back.
