Island Escape 2011

Irwin Mitchell is concerned for passengers on board the Island Escape Cruise after receiving further reports of illness from people who travelled on the ship in 2011.

The passengers’ complaints are echoed by Irwin Mitchell clients who also suffered aboard the Island Escape in 2009 and 2010,  reporting they encountered extremely poor quality food, hot food being served lukewarm and the recycling of food. Many have also commented that they felt the restaurant was in substandard condition and appeared grubby.

Now, passengers who travelled on board the Island Escape in 2011 have instructed travel experts at law firm Irwin Mitchell - who represent almost 200 Passengers who have sailed onboard the Island Escape in three consecutive years - for help, with one passenger describing how her ‘dream holiday quickly turned into a nightmare’.

It is reported that a number of holidaymakers became ill possibly due to the poor hygiene standards on board the cruise liner. Commenting on her traumatic experience aboard the ship, one passenger said: “Air conditioning was poor and hardly worked, the cutlery and cups in the restaurant were chipped and one of the restaurants was like a truck stop café. Tablecloths were badly worn and it looked like a child did the tiling in the bathroom.”

She went on to describe how her symptoms are still continuing after her return to the UK. “We had hoped for a dream cruise but it quickly turned into a nightmare. I still suffer with stomach cramps, diarrhoea and sickness and although I did have a stool sample taken during the trip, I was never given the result.”

If you also travelled on board this cruise and have subsequently suffered from symptoms of gastric illness, Irwin Mitchell would like to hear from you as you may be entitled to claim compensation for your ruined holiday, and also, the pain and suffering caused by the illness that you sustained.
