Irwin Mitchell is alarmed for passengers holidaying on board the Coral Princess Cruise liner after receiving further reports of illness in May 2011. Irwin Mitchell recently received reports of gastric illness amongst holidaymakers on board the vessel, operated by Princess Cruises, which sailed during April 2011. Further reports have now been received suggesting that the problem with illness is an ongoing one.
It has been reported by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that the illness which swept the vessel during the voyage in April 2011 Enterotoxigenic E. coli, a serious form of food poisoning which is often referred to as ETEC. If contracted, this infection can cause severe symptoms of gastric illness which can leave its victims with permanent symptoms.
The same vessel was brought to our attention in May 2009, when it was reported that there had been an outbreak of gastric illness.
