Irwin Mitchell has received further reports of illness from guests that have stayed at the Bahia Principe Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic in 2010. Holidaymakers who have contacted us have complained of suffering gastric illness.
Holidaymakers suffered illness symptoms of diarrhoea, abdominal pain, extreme lethargy and hot temperatures.
These illness symptoms have caused holidaymakers to become hospitalised whilst staying at the resort and have been diagnosed as having a gastric illness. Since returning from holiday some are still suffering continuing symptoms that are affecting their life greatly. Some of these holidaymakers have become intolerant to certain foods and are still suffering the effects of the continuation of gastric symptoms, also severe headaches, loss of weight and emotional distress from the unfortunate holiday experience.
This is not the first time Irwin Mitchell has been contacted by holidaymakers who have suffered illness at this resort. In 2007 we were contacted by many people who have either fallen ill or suffered loss of enjoyment at this hotel. We are currently representing 42 clients who stayed at the hotel and have recovered damages of £73,469.00 on their behalf. In 2008 we also were contacted by guests who had stayed at the resort including a couple celebrating their honeymoon when their joyful occasion was ruined by the low standards of health, hygiene and hospitality at the resort! We are currently representing 17 clients from 2008, one of which has had a confirmed diagnosis of the illness Shigella.
