Illness Outbreaks in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic in the Caribbean is a popular holiday destination, particularly amongst those looking for an all-inclusive holiday. There has been a history of illness outbreaks at Dominican Republic hotels stretching back to the 1990s when a number of tour operators removed the country from their brochures. However, the island has made a come back in recent years and unfortunately this has been matched by a rise in holidaymakers reporting that their holidays have been ruined by illness, often due to failures in food hygiene standards at their hotels.
