Illness at Sol Y Mar, Sharm el Sheikh

Irwin Mitchell has been approached to act for holidaymakers who stayed at the Sol y Mar, Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt in July 2010, some of who fell ill with unpleasant gastric illness.

The holidaymakers have told us that they fell ill with severe gastric symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach cramps.  They were aware of several other guests who were staying at the hotel at the same time and who suffered from similar symptoms.  The holidaymakers have advised that the hotel was not very clean and they felt that food hygiene standards in the hotel were poor.  Insects were often seen in the restaurant and around the food.  Food, especially meat, was often noticed to be undercooked.  Hot food was frequently not kept piping hot and the holidaymakers doubted that the food was fresh when they came to eat it.

The holidaymakers also describe problems with other aspects of the hotel, including the swimming pool always being littered.

If you have been affected by gastric illness following a stay at this hotel, you may be able to claim compensation for your ruined holiday and also the pain and suffering caused by the illness.
