St Georges Homestay, Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt

Irwin Mitchell’s leading travel law team has been instructed to act for a number of holidaymakers who travelled to the St Georges Homestay in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt in January 2012 where guests have fallen ill with severe gastric illnesses. These fresh reports of illness come sixth months after we received instructions from holidaymakers with similar complaints and illnesses staying at the hotel in 2011. We have also successfully acted for holidaymakers who suffered illness at this hotel in the summer of 2006 and 2009.

Holidaymakers staying at this hotel in January 2012 have told us that they fell ill with gastric symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps. The hotel was described as not being of its labelled star rating, as the food was served uncovered and appeared to be reheated and represented later in the day. Food was not replaced properly with holidaymakers observing new food was added on top of existing food.  Pest control was also said to be a real problem at the hotel with cats and sparrows being seen in the restaurant.

If you have been affected by gastric illness following a stay at this hotel, you may be able to claim compensation for your ruined holiday and also the pain and suffering caused by the illness.

My husband and I wanted to commend the professionalism of Irwin Mitchell staff. We have appreciated the telephone conversations as well as written communications and cannot speak too highly of the member of staff we were dealing with.
