Irwin Mitchell is concerned to learn that holidaymakers who have recently stayed at the Viwa Island Resort Hotel in Fiji have contracted symptoms of gastric illness. Most recently, guests who stayed at the hotel in January 2011 have reported the severity of the situation.
One guest reports how they were hospitalised with their symptoms and that tests showed that they had contracted Salmonella poisoning. Salmonella is a bacterial infection which can cause severe symptoms of stomach cramps, diarrhoea and vomiting. In some cases, such an infection can leave permanent symptoms.
The report continues to suggest that the cause of the illness was possible due to the poor quality of food provided by the hotel and the lack of hygiene standards in reference to food preparation.
If you also travelled to this hotel and suffered from gastric illness, Irwin Mitchell would like to hear from you as you may be able to claim compensation for your ruined holiday, and also, the pain and suffering caused by the illness that you sustained.
