Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica, Runaway Bay

Irwin Mitchell is concerned to learn of holidaymakers returning from the Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica Hotel suffering from symptoms of gastric illness. The hotel is located in Runaway Bay in Jamaica and recent complaints relate to holidays taken in April and May 2011.

Recent reports have indicated that the food provided by the hotel is said to be lacking in quality and could be the cause for the illnesses contracted by holidaymakers. The food has been compared to cafeteria quality and it is said that there was a limited selection. The holidaymaker has also reported that, upon their return from the hotel, they sought medical attention and were confirmed to be suffering from Salmonella infection.

However, Salmonella is a severe form of food poisoning often caused by the lack of health and hygiene procedures practiced when handling food. The bacterial infection will often result in symptoms of diarrhoea, stomach cramps and lethargy and can also cause severe permanent symptoms.

The report also suggests that maintenance and cleanliness at the hotel was poor, reporting that there was a live cable left exposed in the bedroom which resulted in one of the guests to sustain a minor electric shock. The air conditioning unit was also reported to be faulty.

Even more disturbing is that Irwin Mitchell was instructed to act on behalf of clients who shared a similar experience at the same hotel in June 2010.

Irwin Mitchell, who specialise in dealing with cases of such nature, would like to hear from you if you have suffered from gastric illness after staying at this hotel.

"We really cannot thank Irwin Mitchell , and in particular Raman Jagpal enough for all their help in fighting our case against Thomson plc following our disastrous holiday in the Dominican Republic in July 2010. They kept us fully informed through every stage of the process and right from our first dealings with them we found them to be helpful, courteous, efficient and most pleasingly, of course, successful!
