Irwin Mitchell has recently been alarmed by holidaymakers who are returning from the Riu Lupita Hotel, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico suffering from symptoms of gastric illness, which may be food poisoning contracted at the hotel, following their holidays in December 2010 and January 2011.
It has been reported that the food provided by the hotel was of a poor quality. As a result of the poor quality of food and possibly due to the lack of hygiene practices at the hotel, holidaymakers contracted severe gastric symptoms, causing their holiday to be ruined.
In describing the location of the hotel, it is reported that the hotel is located between a golf course and a sewage water treatment facility, which would cause pungent odours across the complex throughout the day. It has also been suggested that the hotel is in need of modernisation and that it does not live up to its star rating.
