Irwin Mitchell is currently acting on behalf of a group of clients who contracted symptoms of gastric illness after holidaying at the Marte Hotel in Alcudia, Spain, during the summer of 2008.
Guests returned suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain and dehydration after contracting cryptosporidium infections from the hotel. Cryptosporidium is a bacterial infection which can be contracted from contaminated water which has been used for ice, in the preparation of food or from the swimming pools at the hotel.
Irwin Mitchell has been investigating the claims on behalf of individuals and negotiations have led to the tour operator, First Choice, admitting liability for the illnesses contracted by holidaymakers.
Medical evidence in support of the clients' claims is now being finalised and negotiations are underway in relation to the value of the claims.
