Irwin Mitchell has been approached by holidaymakers staying at the Hotel Presidente, Ibiza in September 2011 who have returned from their holidays complaining of severe gastric illness.
Reports indicate that the cause of the gastric illness may have been due to the poor quality of food and lack of hygiene standards practised at the hotel with reports of insects around food serving stations. In particular, the holidaymakers have reported that food was served undercooked and recycled food was displayed uncovered for long periods of time. It is reported that guests suffered from symptoms including violent diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps.
Irwin Mitchell have previously acted for a large number of holidaymakers who stayed at the same hotel whilst on Thomson package holidays. Some were diagnosed as suffering from infections such as salmonella, campylobacter and giardiasis. Many, including young children, were very ill and some were even admitted to hospital for emergency treatment.
