Irwin Mitchell is anxious for holidaymakers after receiving reports of illness amongst holidaymakers at the Nozha Beach Resort and Spa in Hammamet, Tunisia. Holidaymakers have reported that they fell ill during their stay at the resort or shortly after their return in October 2010.
It has been reported that the food at the hotel was served undercooked, it was not served at the correct temperature and that it appeared to have been reheated and served up on more than one occasion. Additionally, it has been reported that flies were seen in the restaurant, landing on the food and tables. It has also been suggested that the quality of food was below par and that the choice was limited.
Our concerns for holidaymakers increased after learning that at least one holidaymaker had been diagnosed by their doctor as having contracted Shigella infection, a bacterial infection that often results in symptoms of severe diarrhoea, stomach cramps, vomiting and lethargy. Shigella infection can also leave people with permanent symptoms and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
