Gastric Illness at Grand Hotel, Scarborough

We have received recent enquiries from a large group of  guests who travelled to the Grand Hotel, Scarborough in October 2007.

A significant number of guests staying at the above named hotel suffered from serious symptoms of gastric illness including sickness and stomach cramps. The symptoms complained of are consistent with the alleged outbreak of Norovirus which has been reported at this hotel for holidaymakers who travelled to this hotel during the period specified.

It is alleged that large numbers of guests were too ill to leave the hotel and that some guests were allegedly admitted to the local hospital as a result of their symptoms. where they received treatment.

It is further alleged by holidaymakers that the hotel were aware of pre existing illness and health issues at this hotel and that holidaymakers should, therefore, have been warned, in the interests of health and safety, of the outbreak prior to travelling to this hotel. Holidaymakers therefore feel that the failure of the hotel to warn of the problems exposed them to significant health risks which could have been avoided.

We urge anyone affected by this recent outbreak to come forward.
