Family seek justice for couple killed during honeymoon in the Maldives
Irwin Mitchell’s Travel Law team is representing the families of Emma and Jonathan Gray, who were tragically killed during an incident in the Maldives. Mr and Mrs Gray were on their honeymoon at the Kuredu island resort in August 2011.
On 6 August 2011, the couple attended a ‘white’ party (where everybody dresses in white) which had been organised by the resort representatives. Towards the end of the party, the couple were invited to the villa of an employee of the hotel, along with other resort guests. They were later offered a lift back to their own villa by the hotel employee on a quad bike. During the journey, the quad bike collided into a tree, causing fatal injuries to the deceased.
Partner Philip Banks and Solicitor Cheryl Palmer-Hughes have been instructed by the families of the deceased couple to make a claim for personal injury and damages as a result of the incident. Investigations are being carried out jointly by the Maldives and British police and the family are hopeful that the police investigation will reveal exactly what happened on the island.
