Published date:
04 Dec 2007
The Claimant was staying, with her husband, at the Hotel Suite Princess, Playa de Taurito in Gran Canaria. They had both stayed at the hotel four times before and had very much liked it. However, on the first morning of the holiday, as she went to reach into the fitted wardrobe in her hotel room to take out some clothes, the fascia board from the top of the wardrobe, fell and struck her, knocking her to the floor. The consequence was that the Claimant required medical assistance for her injuries, which included concussion and vestibular vertigo. The whole holiday was ruined and she returned home unwell and in need of physiotherapy to aid recovery.
Liability was consistently denied for the accident and the case went to Trial on 20 June 2007. The Claimant was successful and recovered over £20,000 in compensation.
