Slip and Fall in Australia

Mrs Mace and her family went on holiday to Australia on the 13 December 2005. This was a once in a life time holiday for the family.

On the second day of her holiday, Mrs Mace was shopping in a supermarket when she slipped and fell on spilt cream near the checkout. Mrs Mace injured her back and elbow as a result of the fall. Mrs Mace had some previous problems with her back and the accident aggravated her condition.

The supermarket denied liability throughout. Prior to the service of proceedings the parties took part in a settlement conference and the Defendants finally offered to settle the claim in the sum of $30,000(AUS).
