Trip and fall in Ibiza
Mr Ackerley went on a package holiday with his family to Ibiza in 2002.
Midway through the holiday he ventured from his room and headed towards the reception and pool area. It had been raining heavily that morning and Mr Ackeley slipped and fell down some steps. The steps were wet and were uneven in height and size. There was a small unstable handrail that was insufficient for him to grab to prevent his fall.
Mr Ackerley suffered a fractured wrist as a result of the accident. Mr Ackerley made a good recovery from his injuries.
The Tour Operators denied liability and refused to put forward any offers to settle. The matter proceeded to a hearing and Mr Ackerley was successful at trial. He received £7,000.
