£90,000 recovered following attacks during safari in Kenya
We represented twelve holidaymakers who travelled to Kenya in May 2000. The party had booked the holiday as an all inclusive trip and each of the guests was offered a safari excursion to a local Elephant Sanctuary as part of their stay at the Travellers Beach Hotel in Kenya.
Unfortunately, whilst on this safari, the safari camp was attacked by bandits. During this ordeal, several of the guests were physically attacked with bandits carrying machetes and others were verbally abused and threatened.
Two members of the party sustained physical injuries, including a lacerated hand and damaged index finger and at least two of the women were threatened with sexual assault. All of the group were left shaken and traumatised by the events.
The group got in touch with Irwin Mitchell and after a drawn out series of negotiations with the two Tour Operators concerned, damages were agreed in excess of £90,000 for the group.

It is an excellent settlement which my barrister said was down to the skill of my solicitor. I would never have realised that I had a claim for witnessing my daughter’s accident had I not received such good advice.
