Accident in the USA - $85,000
Irwin Mitchell helps client to recover $85,000 after accident in the USA
Mrs. Karen Jacques was on holiday with her family in Florida, USA in July 2006 when they went on a day trip to the Universal Islands of Adventure Theme Park. As the family were walking through the Theme Park, Mrs. Jacques stumbled and fell on some uneven ground, causing her fracture her fibula and right ankle.
After receiving initial treatment in the USA, Mrs. Jacques flew home to the UK and immediately underwent surgery to stabilise the fractures. To date, Mrs. Jacques still has metal work in place in her leg.
The Defendants denied liability for the accident and contended that there was significant fault on the part of Mrs. Jacques for failing to note the presence of the uneven ground. Nevertheless, Irwin Mitchell LLP, with the assistance of their agents in the USA, eventually managed to obtain damages of $85,000 in full and final settlement of Mrs. Jacques’ claim.
