Legal 500 – Travel and Holiday Section (2006)
£51,000 recovered after holidays at the Super Club Breezes Hotel, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic in 2005
Irwin Mitchell represented a family whose holiday at the Super Club Breezes Hotel in Puerta Plata, Dominican Republic in October 2005 was ruined when they all fell ill. They suffered from diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal pain due to a break down of food hygiene procedures at the hotel. One member of the family was diagnosed with suffering from salmonella and later developed permanent Irritable Bowel Syndrome as a result of the holiday illness.
The Defendant tour operator Thomas Cook paid over £51,000 compensation to our clients, and also agreed to cover the family’s legal costs.
