Compensation awarded for Irritable Bowel Syndrome caused by Holiday Abroad
Irwin Mitchell represented Mr and Mrs A and their daughter who holidayed at the Hotel Iberotel Club Fanara in Egypt in summer 2005. By the third day of the holiday they were all suffering from abdominal pain and diarrhoea. The family noticed that there were cats and birds in the restaurant and the birds could be seen taking food from the serving area.
All three clients were subsequently diagnosed with long term mild Irritable Bowel Syndrome, caused by the gastric infections they had contracted at the hotel. Liability was denied but following negotiations between Irwin Mitchell and the Defendant the family received over £15,000 in compensation. The Defendant also agreed to pay the family’s legal costs.
