Ghazala Hotel, Sharm El Sheikh

Irwin Mitchell was successful in recovering thousands of pounds in damages from tour operator My Travel on behalf of 4 holidaymakers who stayed at the Ghazala Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt in November and December 2005.

The group were concerned with the apparent lack of food hygiene at the hotel. For instance, they noted that the salad cart was left open to the elements and in particular flies were able to land on the salad.  They witnessed hot food being placed on top of food that had been left out for a long time and which had gone cold.  Furthermore, birds were pecking at food which had been left out on the tables.

As a result of such failures in food hygiene standards at the hotel, 3 of the holidaymakers suffered from gastric illness, and they developed Irritable Bowel Syndrome as a direct consequence of the holiday illness.

Following negotiations between Irwin Mitchell and My Travel, all 4 holidaymakers accepted offers of several thousand pounds in damages.  The settlement included payment of their legal costs as well.
