Hyatt Regency Hotel
Irwin Mitchell represented 2 families whose holidays at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in summer 2004 were ruined by an outbreak of gastroenteritis, including confirmed Shigella, which caused them to fall ill. Some of the holidaymakers later developed Crohn's disease and Colitis as a direct result of their holiday illnesses.
Our clients had complained about the poor standard of the hotel, the lack of cleanliness in and around the swimming pools and generally poor food hygiene standards.
Tour operator Longwood Holidays Limited denied liability but despite this we succeeded in recovering over £31,000 in compensation for our clients. The tour operator also agreed to cover their legal costs.
