Irwin Mitchell acted for a family of 3 who holidayed at the Louis Zante Beach Hotel in Zante, Greece in 2005. The family were given a small room with a lock that didn’t work and with dilapidated beds that were so close together there was little room to move.
The toilets by the hotel pool did not work properly and caused the whole area to smell. Failures in hygiene practices caused the mother to fall ill with a gastric illness that was later discovered to be a salmonella infection. She required medical treatment in resort and when she got home, and in total she was ill for 7 weeks. Fortunately her husband and son did not fall ill.
Following settlement negotiations between tour operator Thomson and Irwin Mitchell, the family were awarded almost £6,500 in compensation.
