£20,000 awarded to 6 holidaymakers following ruined holidays at the Club Belizia Hotel, Bodrum in Turkey
Irwin Mitchell represented 6 holidaymakers following a stay at the Club Belizia Hotel, Bodrom, Turkey between July and September 2004 which resulted in illness. Our clients suffered symptoms including diarrhoea, faecal incontinence, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, weight loss and bloating. Some of them required medical treatment and hospital admission, and an unfortunate few continue to suffer from post-infective Irritable Bowel Syndrome and rheumatological conditions following their return from the holiday.
The standard of the hotel was described as poor, there was limited hot water throughout the hotel and there were reports that staff mixed old food with new food and certain dishes were left uncovered throughout the day.
Following settlement negotiations with the tour operator Thomas Cook damages across the group were agreed, totalling just under £20,000. The tour operator also agreed to cover their legal costs.
