45 holidaymakers win over £239,000 after holidaying at the Kaya Hotel, Side, Turkey

Irwin Mitchell were successful in recovering compensation for 45 people who stayed at the Kaya Hotel in Side, Turkey after 38 of the holidaymakers contracted gastric illness and had their holidays ruined. 
 
3 of the holidaymakers were shown to have been infected with giardia and 9 of them developed permanent Irritable Bowel Syndrome as a result of the infections they picked up during their holidays.

JMC Holidays Ltd admitted that they were liable for the claims and settlement negotiations resulted in us recovering almost £240,000.00 in compensation for Irwin Mitchell’s clients.  The highest award for the most seriously ill of Irwin Mitchell’s clients was over £20,000.00.
 
Mrs C went on an all-inclusive holiday to the Kaya Hotel with her husband and 2 children.  Two days into the holiday Mrs C fell ill with symptoms of gastric illness. Her husband and their daughter also fell ill shortly after her. Their son was the only member of the family not to fall ill. 

Mrs C’s daughter was ill for 11 days and she recovered just over £2,800.  Her son, who was not ill but whose holiday was totally ruined recovered just over £1,800. 

Mrs C continued to suffer mild symptoms for nearly 6 years after the holiday.  Mr C continued to suffer symptoms which she was told were likely to be permanent.  In both cases, medical experts concluded that the original gastrointestinal infections had caused the couple to develop post infective Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  Mrs C’s claim was settled for just over £7,000.  Mr C’s claim settled for over £10,000. 00.
