Illness at Club Pomelan Hotel in 2001
Compensation recovered for ruined honeymoon at the Club Pomelan Hotel, Turkey in 2001
Irwin Mitchell represented a couple whose honeymoon at the Club Pomelan Hotel in Turkey in July 2001 was ruined when a breakdown in food hygiene procedures at the hotel caused them to become extremely sick with gastric illness. Not only did they fall ill, but the first room they were shown to had a broken lock on the door, broken wardrobes and patio doors – and bunk beds. They were eventually given a room with single beds, which they had to push together, because there were no double rooms available.
The groom was fortunate in recovering from his illness within 3 weeks. However, the bride was so ill that she had to take around 6 weeks off work. She developed permanent Irritable Bowel Syndrome as a result of the infection picked on holiday.
JMC Holidays Ltd admitted that they were liable and following settlement negotiations we succeeded in recovering over £14,400 in compensation for our clients.

We were both delighted with the outcome of our case. We were kept informed at every stage and when we had any queries there was always somebody there to answer these quickly. In the end, Irwin Mitchell managed to secure compensation of £11,500 for myself after the illness I suffered and £1,500 for my son whose holiday was ruined by the illness I suffered. We were very happy.
