Illness on board the MV Sunbird
Miss Piekarz was on a cruise through the Caribbean on the MV Sunbird when she fell ill 5 days into the holiday with nausea, diarrhoea and severe abdominal pain. Mrs Piekarz was subsequently admitted to hospital on return to the UK and diagnosed with Salmonella food poisoning. Mrs Piekarz continues to suffer with symptoms and her symptoms are likely to be permanent.
A claim was brought on behalf of Miss Piekarz by Irwin Mitchell Solicitors against My Travel who admitted liability. Miss Piekarz recovered £8000 in compensation.
