Sun Lounger Collapse on Queen Victoria Cruise

The International Travel Litigation Team at Irwin Mitchell were instructed by a client from South Yorkshire to pursue a claim for personal injuries sustained following an accident on board the Queen Victoria cruise liner as it sailed in August 2010.

Our client had booked the cruise holiday to celebrate her 45th birthday and her 6th wedding anniversary.

On the 9th day of the holiday, she attempted to lie on one of the sun loungers on board the vessel, as she did so, the material on the lounger split, causing her to fall backwards sustaining injuries to her neck, back, also banging her head.

As a result of the accident, our client suffered headaches and ongoing neck and back pain for the duration of her holiday and for a short time after her return to the UK. Fortunately she made a full recovery but had lost the enjoyment of a special holiday.

We pursued a case against the Operator of the cruise, Carnival UK, for the injuries she had sustained. Following negotiations, Irwin Mitchell successfully recovered £3,200 for Mrs Donner.

Irwin Mitchell, who specialise in dealing with cases of such nature, would like to hear from you if you have sustained an injury or suffered from illness after holidaying on board a cruise ship.
