€20,000 recovered following ski accident in Austria
Our client sustained an injury following a skiing accident in Mayrhofen, Austria.
Our client with about 8 years’ skiing experience and also a qualified ski instructor in England was skiing on the Hintertux Glacier when the accident occurred as she approched the end of the run. A German skier overtook the client at speed and hit her from behind.
Compensation Claim for Skiing Accident
Our client had to be repatriated from the piste by air ambulance and she was taken to the local Austrian hospital for treatment.
Our client sustained the following injuries: fractured left shoulder, fractured left arm, dislocated left shoulder, 2 black eyes, cuts to head, heavy bruising, neck and back pain.
We obtained a statement from an English witness and the Austrian police report.
The German skier initially contested liability, but criminal proceedings were brought against him by the Austrian authorities. He was found guilty and his personal liability insurers accepted liability.
We were able to recover for our client €20,000.00 as a global settlement for personal injury, small claim for loss of earnings from part-time ski instructor job, ruined holiday, medical and travel expenses.
