Skiing Accident in Austria
€20,000 recovered following ski accident in Austria
Our client sustained an injury following a skiing accident in Mayrhofen, Austria.
Our client, who was a qualified ski instructor with about 8 years’ skiing experience, was skiing on the Hintertux Glacier when the accident occurred. As she approached the end of the run a German skier hit her from behind and she suffered a fractured left shoulder, fractured left arm, dislocated left shoulder, 2 black eyes, cuts to her head, heavy bruising, and neck and back pain.
Our client had to be taken from the piste by air ambulance to the local Austrian hospital for treatment.
We obtained a statement from an English witness and the Austrian police report.
The German skier initially contested liability, but criminal proceedings were brought against him by the Austrian authorities. He was found guilty and his personal liability insurers accepted liability.
We were able to recover for our client €20,000.00 as a global settlement for personal injury, loss of earnings from her part-time ski instructor job, her ruined holiday, and her medical and travel expenses.
