Compensation recovered following injury on ski lift
Thousands of pounds compensation was recovered after a British holidaymaker was injured after her finger became trapped in a ski lift in Switzerland in 2001.
The British Lady, an experienced skier was using a ski lift in the Siziez region of Switzerland. As she was mounting the ski lift the seat of the ski lift up leaving a gap between the seat and the frame. As the holidaymaker went to push the seat down her finger became trapped. The ski lift continued up the slope for a short distance whilst the holidaymakers husband tried to get the attention of the lift attendant.
The British holidaymaker sustained a serious injury to her finger and had to be air lifted to hospital where she required emergency surgery as her finger was damaged from just below the knuckle.
On return to the UK the British holidaymaker continued to experience pain and discomfort and required additional plastic surgery and a course of physiotherapy before she was able to return to work. She was left with scarring and continuing pain in her finder.
Irwin Mitchell were successful in securing compensation after an admission of liability was received.
