Accident At Work In Germany

Irwin Mitchell Solicitors acted for a client who sustained injury whilst working in Germany.

Mr Ketteridge was working in a factory in Germany on 22 October 2003.  His job was to install fire detection systems within high voltage cabinets.

He had been told that the electrical power had been switched off and, therefore, commenced work.  As he was drilling a hole in the cabinet, his left hand came into contact with a busbar and he suffered an electric shock.  The electrical power had either not been switched off or had been switched back on without warning.

As a result of the electric shock, Mr Ketteridge sustained a fracture to his left shoulder blade, burns to his left hand, pain across his chest, neck, left arm and left hand.  He was admitted to hospital for two nights.

Mr Ketteridge continued to experience pain in his left shoulder and underwent physiotherapy.   Although he continues to experience occasional aching in the shoulder, his symptoms have largely subsided.

In addition to his physical symptoms, Mr Ketteridge also experienced nightmares about the accident and his personality changed.

Irwin Mitchell Solicitors were able to recover £15,750.00 in damages for Mr Ketteridge.
