Cement Mixing Accident

Irwin Mitchell acted for a man following injuries he sustained whilst in Namibia. Our client was working as a volunteer on a 10 week Raleigh International Programme at the Oshama School site in Namibia, Africa, he had volunteered to build a school.

On 28 August 2007 our client was mixing cement when his hand was pulled into the unguarded drive gears of the mixer. The mixer was faulty and had to be repaired following this incident.

Our client sustained a severe crushing injury to his right hand. He underwent a partial amputation of his middle finger and he also sustained a fractured index finger.

Following negotiations with the Defendant, Raleigh International, Irwin Mitchell recovered £9,500 in damages.

When I tried to deal with the tour operator myself, I got nowhere and I almost lost heart. Without the help of Irwin Mitchell’s travel team, I would have given up.
