Royal Park Hotel
The International Travel Litigation team at Irwin Mitchell are concerned for holidaymakers after reading reports of illness amongst guests staying at the Royal Park Hotel, in Bulgaria during their holidays taken in 2011.
The Elenite Holiday Village is also part of the complex which includes the ill fated Royal Park Hotel, Bulgaria, which Irwin Mitchell is currently representing over 100 holiday makers after their appalling holidays in 2008 and has successfully represented around 100 holidaymakers who suffered similar problems in 2004, 2005 and 2007.
Members of the group in 2008 suffered from serious gastric illness including severe diarrhoea and stomach cramps. Several of them contracted Shigella during their stay.
Guests staying at the all-inclusive, four-star, Royal Park Hotel have described finding ‘stinking bedrooms’ with urine soaked mattresses. There were claims that the hotel shop sold ‘bottled’ water which had been refilled from taps and water coolers being topped up from a hose pipe used to water the hotel gardens.
In 2005 Irwin Mitchell acted for 21 holidaymakers who stayed at the Royal Park Hotel between September and October 2005. As a result of failures in food hygiene standards at the hotel every single one of them fell ill. Fortunately most of them recovered within 6 weeks, but one person developed Irritable Bowel Syndrome as a direct consequence of his holiday illness.
Following negotiations between the parties, Irwin Mitchell was able to achieve settlements totalling over £43,000 on behalf of the group. The Defendant tour operator also agreed to pay the holidaymakers’ legal costs.
