Riu Touareg, Cape Verde - 2012
The specialist International Travel litigation team at Irwin Mitchell are concerned for holidaymakers who have fallen ill at an all-inclusive holiday at Riu Touareg Hotel in Cape Verde with symptoms of gastric illness believed to be that of food poisoning. Most recent reports relate to holidays taken in April 2012.
Alarming reports indicate that guests suffered with symptoms including diarrhoea and vomiting. It has been reported that holidaymakers informed the holiday reps of the food poisoning, however they failed to acknowledge it. Holidaymakers furthermore describe how they had to go to the doctors to get medication to help control sickness and diarrhoea and describe how other holidaymakers were seen at the doctors suffering from similar symptoms.
Moreover, other holidaymakers have complained how the food was of poor quality that it appeared to be undercooked. One holidaymaker reports “food seemed to be prepared from frozen, it floats in water or even has frost on it.”
Holidaymakers have reported that they fell ill with symptoms including diarrhoea, abdominal pain and vomiting which ruined their holiday. Reports indicate that this may be a result of poor food handling and hygiene procedures practiced at the Hotel.
If you have also travelled to this hotel and subsequently suffered from symptoms of gastric illness or sustained an injury, Irwin Mitchell, who specialise in dealing with cases of such nature, would like to hear from you.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
