Arcadia Cruise 2015

Irwin Mitchell has been instructed to act on behalf of clients who became ill with respiratory and gastric illness following their stay on board the P&O Arcadia in 2015.

Despite some positive reviews, we have received negative reports regarding hygiene standards and passengers falling ill on the vessel. Guests have told us that coughing could be heard throughout the evening entertainment performances and that the on-ship doctors’ clinic was visited by a number of holidaymakers with such symptoms.

Passengers have said that some of the Arcadia’s toilets were not well maintained and one guest had to ask for toilet roll and hand soap several times during their cruise. Reports have said that there were not enough utensils for the dishes available at the buffet so these were mixed between different foods. Complaints have also mentioned cabins having stained furniture and dirty toilets upon arrival.

Other holidaymakers described the ship’s cabins as filthy and dusty, with carpets, curtains and pillow stained and smelly mildew being found on bathroom tiles. In addition, there has been speculation that the swimming pools on board the ship were closed due to the wrong paint being used which was coming off onto swimmers.

We are concerned to learn cases of illness and indications that suggest that there may be overall hygiene issues on the Arcadia.
