Britannia Cruise, 2016

Our expert International Personal Injury team has been contacted by passengers who suffered gastric illness following their voyage on board the Britannia cruise ship in June 2016. Their symptoms included diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea and lethargy.

They were also aware that others were ill on the ship; it's reported that during the cruise that the captain made the announcement that there were passengers suffering illness on board.

The team is already representing a family of three who got in touch after becoming ill on the same ship in May 2016.

The family booked the cruise as part of celebrations for a 20th wedding anniversary - however, while on board, one of them fell ill with symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhoea and vomiting. Medical treatment from the doctor on board the ship was needed. Even though they've now returned to the UK, these symptoms have not resolved.

Despite some positive reviews of the cruise ship online, the passengers complained that a good standard of cleanliness aboard the ship was not maintained by the staff. They also witnessed several other passengers not using the sanitisers before eating in the restaurant. They had further complaints about the food, which was sometimes served only lukewarm and left out for long periods of time.
