Illness on board the Thomson Dream cruise to the Caribbean
Irwin Mitchell is acting for a number of clients complaining about their experience on the Thomson Dream Cruise to the Caribbean in 2011. This follows hundreds of complaints received about the Thomson Dream last year, where over 400 holidaymakers called on Irwin Mitchell for assistance after their nightmare experience cruising around the Mediterranean.
Holidaymakers aboard this cruise ship have contracted symptoms of diarrhoea, sickness, severe abdominal cramps and pain they have also suffered from extremely high temperatures and sweats. These symptoms are still being experienced by clients to date and have affected their quality of life upon return to the UK.
Thomson quote on their website that the Thomson Dream is "Thomson's biggest, most luxurious to date, is set to become the new flagship of the fleet". This idea of luxury is not shared by many customers who suffered on the cruise.
The quality of food onboard the vessel was said to be extremely poor by customers eating there. They stated they had major concerns about one particular restaurant as they were aware that refrigeration and air conditioning had failed whilst they had been previously eating there.
Many other issues have been highlighted by customers such as an overwhelming smell of faeces and sewage on board the ship which was accompanied by brown sludge seeping through the taps in the cabins and a major shortage of water on board the ship. Damp smells and insufficient air conditioning added to the problems.
To make matters worse a scheduled port of call to Costa Maya was not made due to complications onboard the ship. Port of call to the Dominican Republic was restricted to 1 hour due to timing miscalculations having been made.
Customers have informed us that a fire broke out onboard the ship and it was 40 minutes before management had any verbal contact with them in regards to the dangerous situation.
Irwin Mitchell is already representing over 200 holidaymakers who travelled on the Thomson Dream Mediterranean Cruise in 2010 and it is clear that vital lessons have not been learned by Thomson.
Irwin Mitchell is eager to investigate this matter further and would urge victims of illness who holidayed aboard the vessel to contact us urgently. If you have been affected by gastric illness following a stay aboard this ship, you may be able to claim compensation for your ruined holiday and also the pain and suffering caused by the illness.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
