Black Watch Cruise, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines
The International Travel Litigation team at Irwin Mitchell, which specialises in cases of food poisoning in the UK and abroad, has been contacted by holidaymakers after their return from a Cruise on the Black Watch operated by Fred Olsen Cruise lines.
After booking the cruise, which called at a number of Caribbean islands including Barbados, one passenger has had to receive medical treatment whilst on board the cruise after they became ill with symptoms which included sickness and diarrhoea. As a result of the symptoms he was unable to make use of the ships facilities and missed a number of ports of call. A number of passengers were reported to have become ill with similar symptoms and one such passenger was sick in the main restaurant.
Irwin Mitchell have also acted for numerous clients who have fallen ill with gastric illness on Fred Olsen vessels in the past and it is possible that the illnesses experienced by holidaymakers were due to a breakdown in food handling and food hygiene procedures, as well as a failure to prevent and maintain the spread of illness amongst passengers.
If you have been affected by gastric illness following a stay on this vessel, you may be able to pursue a claim for your ruined holiday and also the pain and suffering caused by the illness that you sustained.
For more advice on making an illness claim, contact Irwin Mitchell on 0800 056 0066 or complete our enquiry form and we will call you back.
