Irwin Mitchell has received reports of illness from a British couple who amongst over 80 passengers on board the Queen Elizabeth world cruise in April 2014. They say that they became ill with diarrhoea and vomiting after boarding the ship in Singapore to travel to Dubai.
One passenger had to seek treatment from the doctor on board the vessel and was unable to go on an excursion in Malaysia because of the illness. The holiday had been booked as an opportunity to enjoy the dining facilities on the ship and to re-gain weight which had been lost whilst the British passenger had been undergoing treatment for tongue cancer.
Others who had boarded the ship during the first leg of its journey from Southampton are reported to have been ill before the ship docked in Singapore. The British couple also said that they spoke to a member of staff who had been ill during the cruise.
Despite some positive reports some passengers said that some of the food was served luke warm and some of the fruit did not look fresh. One passengers reported water dripping and being collected at the entry points to two of the restaurants and others reported that on occasion the water in the Jacuzzi appeared to look dirty.
