Irwin Mitchell has received recent reports indicating that guests have fell ill with gastric symptoms whilst being on board the Queen Mary Cruise Ship. Recent reports are from November 2011.
We are currently acting for guests who fell ill with gastric symptoms whilst being on board the ship in December 2010. It is concerning to learn that such problems continue on the cruise ship with more holidaymakers falling ill with similar symptoms.
Holidaymakers who fell ill whilst on board the ship complained of the undercooked food served as well as the food being served at an incorrect temperature. Further complaints were that guests were concerned about the general cleanliness of the ship. It is possible that a breakdown in cleaning and hygiene standards resulted in the illnesses being complained of. The symptoms suffered by holidaymakers were diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
