We’ve been contacted by a number of passengers who fell ill with respiratory related symptoms after taking a cruise on board the Thomson Celebration Cruise ship in January 2016. Some passengers fell ill while onboard and continued to be ill after they returned home – others developed symptoms within days of leaving the ship.
A number of passengers report suffering from respiratory symptoms, including a prevalent cough, fever and tiredness. One couple both sought medical attention when they got home as their illness persisted. Another passenger reports that since leaving the ship she suffered from ‘flu-like’ symptoms and has been diagnosed with pneumonia, resulting in her being hospitalised for 6 days. She says she continues to suffer with breathlessness and tiredness, and has lost approximately one stone in weight.
Despite a number of positive reviews of the cruise online, other passengers report that the air conditioning unit in their cabin was dripping water and the bathroom flooded with water during their stay. The passengers told us that they reported these problems during the cruise.
Respiratory symptoms can range from a mild cough to breathlessness, which can develop into flu-like symptoms.
