Iberostar Laguna Azul, 2017

We’ve seen recent reports on Trip Advisor from holidaymakers who have suffered with gastric illness while staying at the Iberostar Laguna Azul in Cuba during February and March this year.

Despite some positive reviews of the hotel on the consumer review site, several tourists have reported that they suffered with symptoms of stomach cramps, diarrhoea and vomiting.  Some reports posted on Trip Advisor suggest that they were aware of many other hotel guests that were also ill during their stays at the hotel.

One holidaymaker reported that some of the food tasted bland and on some occasions the meat was undercooked. Another guest complained about the chefs not always wearing gloves when handling the food.

Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in stools. We have significant experience helping those unlucky enough to contract gastric illness while on holiday. We’re very aware of the complications that can develop because of such illness, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The effects can sometimes develop into a problem that is long-term, or even permanent.

If you also travelled to the Iberostar Laguna Azul in Cuba and have subsequently been ill, we’d like to hear from you. We specialise in dealing with cases like this and can advise you on claiming compensation for your trip.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
