Iberostar Parque Central & Iberostar Varadero, 2015

Irwin Mitchell has received a report of illness from a holidaymaker who stayed at the Iberostar Parque Central and the Iberostar Varadero, both in Cuba, over the Christmas period in 2015.

The guest has informed our experts that they had to seek medical assistance at one of the resorts before being hospitalised for several weeks on their return to the UK. According to the holidaymaker it was then suspected that he had contracted Cryptosporidium.

Alarmingly, further reports of illness have surfaced regarding the Iberostar Varadero resort.

The gentleman who has contacted us has described experiencing symptoms including severe diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps. He has also reported losing approximately two stone in weight within a seven day period due to his illness.

The holidaymaker has raised concerns about some of the food at the resort. On occasions, he has expressed that food was left uncovered and described that he saw staff handling ice with their bare hands, which was used for cold drinks.
