"The team at Irwin Mitchell has a ‘pre-eminent reputation’ for travel personal injury work"

IBEROSTAR Tainos, 2017

Irwin Mitchell’s specialist International Personal Injury team is concerned to hear of guests falling ill with gastric symptoms whilst on holiday at the IBEROSTAR Tainos, Cuba in May, June and July 2017. Some guests' symptoms were so severe they had to go to hospital.

Guests reported suffering with symptoms of gastric illness during their holiday at the IBEROSTAR Tainos. The holidaymakers reported concerns over hygiene standards, including complaints that the same chopping boards and utensils were used for raw and cooked meat, food was served lukewarm or cold, new buffet food as added onto old buffet food and that the chef was not wearing gloves.

Some holidaymakers also reported witnessing birds defecating around the restaurant while food was left uncovered.  Guests suffered symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain. Some guests were also diagnosed with salmonella poisoning and required hospitalisation.

Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in stools. Having significant experience in assisting those unfortunate enough to contract gastric illness, our lawyers know the long term effects that gastric illness can have, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

If you also travelled to the IBEROSTAR Tainos, Cuba and subsequently suffered symptoms of gastric illness or sustained an injury, Irwin Mitchell, who specialise in dealing with cases of such nature, would like to hear from you.
