WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY

"The team has so many contacts with foreign insurers and so many people with foreign languages that it is miles ahead of others."

Starfish Cayo Santa Maria, 2016

We're concerned about recent reports of illness among guests at the Starfish Cayo Santa Maria in Cuba earlier this year.

Despite positive reviews of the hotel online, we're also aware that some holidaymakers fell ill during their stays between February and April 2016. One tourist complained that some of the food from the heaters was "cold". Another claims that sometimes there were "cooked eggs sitting on hot tables that were not turned on, leaving them at room temperature only". One guest was alarmed to have seen "a rat on one occasion in the buffet area walking everywhere".

Other holidaymakers report falling ill with gastric symptoms.

Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in stools. Having significant experience in assisting those unfortunate enough to contract gastric illness, we know first-hand the potential long term effects that can be associated with such illness, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

If you also travelled to the Starfish Cayo Santa Maria in Cuba and have subsequently suffered from symptoms of illness, our International Personal Injury team would like to hear from you. We specialise in dealing with cases of this nature and could help you claim compensation for your ruined holiday.

For more advice on making a holiday illness claim, contact Irwin Mitchell on 0800 056 0066 or complete our enquiry form and we will call you back.
